Vacuforming is the process of heating a piece of styrene until it is pliable,
then molding it to the desired shape. This process is achieved by placing a sheet of styrene or other moldable material in
a special Vacuform Machine. The machine first heats the styrene, then the styrene is pulled down around the mold. Once the styrene
sheet is in place on the mold, the vacuum pumps are engaged. This pulls the remaining air from between the styrene and the
mold creating an identical copy.

- Vacuform is best suited for theatrical uses.
- All of our molds fit together to form a seamless pattern
- The Vacuform mold looks best if stapled to a plywood backer. We suggest cutting around the pattern leaving 1/8th of a inch on the outside
to staple to.
- Vacuform is shipped unpainted. To give the desired theatrical effect, use any water-based paint. Styrene cannot be painted
with a solvent-based paint because the styrene will melt. We recommend that you paint the Vacuform
mold after it has been installed.
- Styrene is not suitable for long term outdoor use. It becomes brittle and can break when exposed to sunlight
- All thermoform plastics will expand and contract when the temperature changes this can cause the plastic to buckle
or the seams to pull apart.
- Other plastics such as - PVC, ABS, PLEXI, LEXAN, ECT. - can be vacuformed. Please call for a quote.
